Introduction
Almost every WordPress template ‘comes’ with one of more sitebars. These sidebars are filled with some standard content, but also allow you to customize the looks. When we look for example at The Dark Palace you see two sidebars at the left side, both filled with lots of (moneymaking) links and information. When you look for example at AssProbed you can see the ’sidebars’ do not always have to be on the side of the template : The two boxes on top of the page are also ’side’ boxes.
Adding an RSS Feed
In this part of the tutorial you learn to change your sitebar(s) and replace the content with some handy moneymaking features.
We go to ‘Appearance’, then select ‘Widgets’ and on the panel you see then, we can customize our sidebars.

On the left side, you see the available widgets, on the right side you can select which sidebar you want to use (in this sample ‘Default Sidebar’ and ‘Footer’. By dragging and dropping widgets from the left to the right, you can add widgets, by changing the order by dragging them, you give them a new position.
For our example we first drag a ‘Categories’ widget to the column, next we drag the ‘Recent Post’ and the ‘Pages’ widgets to the panel. Finally we drag the ‘RSS widget’.
When you drag a widget to the sidebar, a dialogue is opened, where you can change the properties. For this RSS widget we need to change some properties, but first we explain what RSS is.
RSS, or a (News)feed is a way of exchanging information using a predefined XML protocol. For the moment it’s not interesting at all, how this protocol looks, the only thing which matters is that it allows us to receive information from an informationprovider (like our sponsor) and make it available at our site. Within our branche, RSS is frequently used to give updates on Free Hosted Galleries, so we can show links of the newest galleries directly from your sponsor on your site.
For this sample we go to KinkyDollars. If we didn’t sign up, we do it right now, since it’s one of the best converting sponsors I know. Login with your credentials and click on Ad Tools, then on RSS Feeds. In our example we have a site focused on anal porn, so we select an anal pornsite from their sitelist, which is the site EverythingButt. In the dialog we enter the following values :
- Site : EverythingButt
- Type : WMV
- No. Shoots : 20
- Program : RevShare
Then we click the ‘Click to display feed’ button and copy the url generated in our browser-addressbar. The resulting url is quite long, something like : http://www.kinkydollars.com/rss-beta.php?webid=20252&sitename=everythingbutt&type=wmv&noshoots=20&program=revshare.
Now we open the RSS dialog box and enter the following values :

Now click ‘Save’ and the feed is added to your site : At the frontend visitors see the titles and a short description on the sidebar. In this way you always have the latest twenty new galleries from your sponsor on your site.
Conclusion
You have seen how you can add a RSS widget to the sidebar of your site. In this way you can add extra, automatically updated information made available by other informationsources. Many sponsors offer RSS Feeds with links to their galleries, with your webmaster codes already inserted. It’s wise to add some RSS widgets on your site, only do not overdo it.
